Welcome to the North Dakota
The North Dakota Racing Commission is the regulatory body
in charge of regulating live and simulcast racing in North Dakota and
administers three special funds for the benefit of the horse racing industry
in North Dakota. The Commission is made up of five members appointed by
the Governor and has an office staff of a Director and Administrative
Assistant. The office is located at 500 North 9th Street,
Bismarck, ND 58501-4509.

Notice to HorsemenEffective January 1, 2015, all broodmares must be registered as a broodmare before foaling a ND-bred eligible horse.

Broodmare Registration Grace Period
Any horsemen who failed to register their broodmares prior to the birth of 2015 foals may do so at any time between April 30 and June 1, 2015. The Commission extended this grace period at its April 30 meeting to allow horsemen an opportunity to update their paperwork and comply with the rule change in Admin Rule 69.5-01-09-01(3) requiring all broodmares to be registered as a broodmare before foaling a ND-bred eligible horse as of January 1, 2015. 2015 ND Bred Program
$150,000 has been made available by the ND Racing Commission from the ND Breed Fund to provide breeders awards for 2015 in-state racing.
$30,000 has been made available by the ND Racing Commission from the ND Breed Fund as a "test fund" to provide breeders awards for ND-breds racing in out-of-state races. The following rules apply:
